CL-2025-049: Promotion of the 10-Piso Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Coin
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas issued this circular to instruct all banks to promote the new 10-piso ASEAN coin, which will be issued as legal tender in January 2026 to commemorate the Philippines' role as ASEAN Chair. Banks are required to utilize prescribed art cards on their social media pages, ATM screens, and websites to raise public awareness and encourage daily transactions. This initiative aims to ensure the coin's active circulation alongside existing 10-piso denominations by supporting its public acceptance through standardized promotional materials.
BANGKO SENTRAL NG PILIPINAS RECIONAL OPERATIONS AND ADVOCACY SECTOR MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR LETTER NO. CL-2O25-O49 BERNADETTE Deputy The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will issue the lO-piso ASEAN coin nationwide in January 2o26 to commemorate the Philippines' role as ASEAN Chair in2O26.The coin will circulate as legal tender alongside the existing lO-piso from the BSP Coin Series and New Generation Currency Coin Series, and can be used as payment at face value for daily transactions. To support the issuance and help ensure public acceptance of the coin in everyday use, the BSP enjoins all banks to promote the lO-piso ASEAN coin on their respective platforms (e.9., social media pages, automated teller machine screens, websites), using the BsP-prescribed art cards upon the coin's public release. This initiative aims to raise public awareness of the new lO-piso ASEAN coin and encourage its use in daily transactions, thereby supporting its active circulation in the economy.
