The Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) requires market participants, including investment firms, insurers, and pension funds, to complete two parallel T+1 readiness surveys by 9 June 2026 to monitor sector preparation for the 11 October 2027 settlement cycle shortening from T+2 to T+1. The national AFM survey will assess Dutch readiness with results shared exclusively with the AFM and ESMA, while the European survey coordinated by the EU T+1 Industry Committee will track EU-wide progress through aggregated, anonymous data. Participants are also directed to ESMA and EUIC resources and an upcoming EU T+1 Roadshow event in Prague on 26 May 2026 to stay informed on transition requirements and remaining focus areas.

From 11 October 2027, the settlement cycle for securities transactions will be shortened from T+2 to T+1. This requires adjustments to systems and processes throughout the capital markets chain. To monitor progress, the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) is calling on market participants to complete two T+1 readiness surveys. Both surveys must be completed by 9 June 2026 at the latest. The results will provide insight into the sector's preparation and clarify where additional attention is needed for T+1.
In brief
• Two surveys on T+1 readiness • Additional T+1 information and EU T+1 Roadshow
Two surveys for insight into T+1 readiness We are asking market participants — including investment firms, investment institutions, insurers, and pension funds — to participate in two surveys on T+1.
National survey (AFM) The AFM survey maps T+1 readiness in the Netherlands. The results are only accessible to us and ESMA. → the AFM's T+1 survey
European survey (EU T+1 Industry Committee) This survey provides insight into progress within the EU. Results are shared anonymously and at an aggregated level. → the EUIC's T+1 readiness survey
Both surveys run in parallel. Broad participation is important to obtain a complete picture of the preparation for T+1 and the remaining points of attention.
Additional T+1 information and EU T+1 Roadshow For additional information on the T+1 transition, you can consult the special webpage of ESMA , as well as the website of the EUIC . We also draw your attention to the following so-called EU T+1 Roadshow event . This event will take place in Prague on 26 May 2026 (online and in person).
