Truth in Lending (Regulation Z) Annual Threshold Adjustment

The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau issued final rules adjusting the annual exemption threshold for consumer credit transactions under the Truth in Lending Act. Effective January 1, 2024, the dollar threshold for exempt transactions increases from $66,400 to $69,500 based on the annual percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers. The Agencies also updated official commentary to codify the calculation methodology for future threshold adjustments and clarify handling of periods with no CPI-W increase.
