Telecommuting and Branch Licensing Requirements
The Idaho Department of Finance issued Guidance Statement 2021-01-CFB to clarify that employees may work remotely without licensing their home offices, provided they do not represent those locations as licensed business sites. The guidance prohibits practices such as advertising unlicensed addresses or using residential contact information in public promotions that might mislead consumers into believing an unlicensed location is authorized. Employers must also ensure compliance with existing laws and exercise due diligence in safeguarding company and customer data while operating under these remote work conditions.
