Notice of Consultation: Regulation to Amend Information Requirements for Segregated Fund Insurance Contracts

The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) issued a draft regulation to update the disclosure requirements for annual statements sent to holders of individual variable insurance contracts relating to segregated funds. The proposed amendments will take effect on January 1, 2026, contingent upon ministerial approval. Stakeholders may submit written comments to the AMF’s legal affairs office by November 21, 2025.

Draft Regulation Insurers Act (chapter A-32.1, ss. 485 par. (1)) Regulation to amend the Regulation respecting information to be provided to holders of individual variable insurance contracts relating to segregated funds Notice is hereby given by the Autorité des marchés financiers (the “AMF” or the “Authority”) that, in accordance with section 486 of the Insurers Act, CQLR, c. A-32.1, the following regulation (the “Draft Regulation”), the text of which is published hereunder, may be made by the Authority and subsequently submitted to the Québec Minister of Finance for approval, with or without amendment, after 30 days have elapsed since its publication in the Bulletin of the Authority:

  • Regulation to amend the Regulation respecting information to be provided to holders of individual variable insurance contracts relating to segregated funds The Draft Regulation is also available under “Public consultations” on the AMF’s website at www.lautorite.qc.ca. Purpose of the Draft Regulation The Draft Regulation proposes to amend the Regulation respecting information to be provided to holders of individual variable insurance contracts relating to segregated funds, approved by order number 2025-01 of the Minister of Finance (2025, G.O. II, 718), in order to make changes to the information that must be included in the annual statement sent to holders of individual variable insurance contracts. Subject to ministerial approval, the AMF expects that the Draft Regulation will come into force on January 1, 2026, the same date as the Regulation respecting information to be provided to holders of individual variable insurance contracts relating to segregated funds.
