Financial Data Transparency Act Joint Data Standards Final Rule

Nine federal financial regulatory agencies issued a joint final rule to establish standardized data definitions and formats to promote interoperability of financial regulatory data. The rule mandates the use of specific ISO standards for legal entities, financial instruments, dates, and currencies, while requiring data to be machine-readable and nonproprietary. Although effective in October 2026, the rule does not impose new reporting requirements, leaving the adoption of these standards into specific agency collections to subsequent individual rulemakings.
