Authorities Lay Out Plans to Stamp Out Unfair Trading Activities in Stock Markets

The Financial Services Commission, Financial Supervisory Service, and Korea Exchange announced joint measures to combat stock market manipulation by establishing a unified response team for faster investigations. Regulators will upgrade surveillance systems to an individual-centered model using pseudonymized data and AI technology to improve detection efficiency and reduce false positives. Additionally, authorities will enforce stricter administrative sanctions, including account freezes and higher penalty surcharges, while tightening delisting criteria for underperforming companies to remove rule-breakers from the market.
