Certain Swap Data Repository and Data Reporting Requirements

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission extends the comment period for its proposed rulemaking on swap data repository and data reporting requirements by an additional 90 days to January 27, 2020. This extension, granted at the request of market participants, allows for further analysis of proposed amendments regarding SDR verification, error correction, and operational governance. The Commission anticipates aligning future comment periods with additional rulemakings under its Roadmap to Achieve High Quality Swaps Data.

The comment period for the NPRM was scheduled to close on July 29, 2019. The Commission subsequently extended the comment period for the NPRM by an additional 90 days to October 28, 2019.2 At the request of market participants,3 the Commission is again extending the comment period for this NPRM for an additional 90 days to January 27, 2020. This extension of the comment period will allow interested persons additional time to analyze the proposal and prepare their comments. As stated in the NPRM,4 the Commission anticipates reopening or extending the comment period for this NPRM to coincide with the comment periods for the additional planned rulemakings under the Commission’s Roadmap to Achieve High Quality Swaps Data (‘‘Roadmap’’),5 in order to provide market participants with the opportunity to comment collectively on all rulemakings proposed under the Roadmap. The Commission does not anticipate further extending the comment period for this NPRM in the absence of the additional Roadmap rulemakings.
