The MFSA approves the Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) Certification, provided by the Malta Institute of Management and ACAMS, as a valid course for fulfilling competence requirements for Money Laundering Reporting Officers under the Virtual Financial Assets Rulebook. Training providers seeking approval must submit requests including course content and certification award mechanisms. The Authority also directs industry participants to its website for further updates on the Virtual Financial Assets Framework.

AML/CFT Approved Courses for VFA Issuers & VFA Service Providers
The courses approved by the MFSA for the purposes of fulfilling the competence requirements for Money Laundering Reporting Officers ('MLROs') in terms of R2-2.4.6.6 of Chapter 2 and R3-2.2.3.3.4 of Chapter 3 of the Virtual Financial Assets Rulebook ('the Rules') are available on the following link: Approved Courses for Proposed Persons.
The industry is hereby informed that the following course has been approved by the MFSA for this purpose.
Course Title: Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) Certification
Training Provider: Malta Institute of Management & Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS)
Training providers interested in having their courses approved by the MFSA are to submit a request for approval to the Authority, providing at least: [i] the course content; and [ii] information on the certification award mechanism, including: attendance, assessment and grading.
