AML Circular No. 21: Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2009
This circular notifies that the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2009, enacted by the Bangladesh National Parliament, came into force on April 15, 2008, following Presidential assent on February 24, 2009, and simultaneously repeals the Money Laundering Prevention Ordinance, 2008. It directs all scheduled banks, financial institutions, insurance companies, money changers, and money transfer companies to comply with the Act's instructions and acknowledges receipt of the gazetted copy. Additionally, AML Circular No. 16, issued on April 29, 2008, is declared void effective from the Act's commencement date.

Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2009
The Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2009, enacted by the Bangladesh National Parliament, came into force on 15 April, 2008 through receiving the assent of the Honorable President on 24 February, 2009. With the coming into force of this Act, the Money Laundering Prevention Ordinance, 2008 has been repealed. A gazetted copy of this Act, issued through the Bangladesh Gazette (Extraordinary), is attached herewith.

You are requested to ensure compliance with the instructions of this Act and to inform all concerned parties.

A.M.L. Circular No. 16 issued on 29 April, 2008 shall be deemed void from the effective date of the aforementioned Act.
