Appointment of Expert Member for the Monetary Policy Committee
The Bank of Thailand appointed Mr. Somchai Harnhirun as an expert member of its Monetary Policy Committee, effective 28 May 2026. He replaces Mr. Santitarn Sathirathai, who resigned prior to term completion, and will serve until the vacancy ends on 31 October 2026. The Board of Directors approved the interim appointment on 27 May 2026 to maintain full committee representation for ongoing monetary policy deliberations.

Mr. Chiranuwat Tanyacharoen, Secretary to the Board of the Bank of Thailand, announced that the Board made decision on 27 May 2026 to appoint Mr. Somchai Harnhirun as an expert member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), replacing Mr. Santitarn Sathirathai, who resigned prior to the completion of his term. The appointment takes effect on 28 May 2026 and continues for the remainder of Mr. Santitarn Sathirathai’s term, which ends on 31 October 2026.
