Proclamation of the Insurance Act, 2018

President Paula-Mae Weekes of Trinidad and Tobago issued Legal Notice No. 369 to activate the Insurance Act, 2018. The proclamation mandates that all sections of the Act come into force on January 1, 2021, with the specific exception of sections 184 and 185. This legal instrument fulfills the statutory requirement under section 1 of the Act to fix the commencement date by presidential proclamation.

LEGAL NOTICE NO. 369 REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO No. 30 of 2020. By Her Excellency PAULA-MAE WEEKES, O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces PAULA-MAE WEEKES President A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS it is provided by section 1 of the Insurance Act, 2018 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”) that the Act shall come into operation on such date as is fixed by the President by Proclamation: And whereas it is expedient that all sections of the Act, save and except for sections 184 and 185, come into operation: Now, therefore, I, PAULA-MAE WEEKES, President as aforesaid, do hereby fix the 1st day of January, 2021, as the date on which all sections of the Act, save and except for sections 184 and 185, shall come into operation.
