Bank of Zambia Circular 01/2000 on Government Deposit Accounts with Commercial Banks

The Bank of Zambia issued Circular No. 01/2000 requiring all commercial banks to report details of government and government-related deposit accounts held as of 31 December 1999. Institutions must submit account names and corresponding balances in the account's currency to the Financial System Supervision Department. Compliance is mandatory by the close of business on 7 January 2000 to facilitate regulatory oversight of state funds.

Dear Sirs

GOVERNMENT DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS WITH COMMERCIAL BANKS

You are kindly requested to furnish the Bank of Zambia with information on Government and Government related deposit accounts held by your bank as of 31 December 1999. This information should take the form of account name and respective amounts in the currency of the account.

The information should be sent to Financial System Supervision Department at the earliest but in any case not later than close of business on Friday, 7 January 2000.
