The Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) appointed Otto Eduardo Fonseca de Albuquerque Lobo as its new President following Senate approval. His term is scheduled to last until July 18, 2027, succeeding the previous leadership structure. Following approval by the Federal Senate, the President of the Republic appointed Otto Eduardo Fonseca de Albuquerque Lobo as President of the CVM. The appointment was made by decree published on 06/03/2026, in the Official Gazette of the Union.
The new President will serve a mandate until 07/18/2027.
Otto Lobo holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Miami, USA, and a Doctorate in Business Law from the University of São Paulo. He served as a Director at the CVM from January 2022 to December 2025.
He was a Full Councilor of the Council of Resources of the National Financial System (2015-2018) and a professor of Corporate Law and Capital Markets at FGV Direito Rio, the Judiciary School of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.
He has worked as a lawyer, arbitrator, and legal advisor on matters of Corporate Law, Capital Markets, and Insolvency. He is the author of books and articles and is a speaker at conferences in Brazil and abroad.
