The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit mandates that scheduled banks submit Cash Transaction Reports (CTR) on a weekly basis, with each week's report due within three working days of the following week. This directive, effective January 11, 2026, requires banks to file CTRs for the period of January 1–10, 2026, by January 13, 2026. Failure to submit timely, accurate, or complete reports, or violation of these instructions, may result in action under Section 23 of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012.

Regarding submission of Cash Transaction Report (CTR).
Dear Sir,
In accordance with the instructions contained in Clause 6 of BFIU Circular No. 26, issued on June 16, 2020, there is an obligation to submit a Cash Transaction Report (CTR) to the BFIU in the case of deposit or withdrawal (including any type of cash deposit or withdrawal such as online, ATM, etc.) of an amount of 1,000,000 (One Million) Taka or above, or its equivalent in foreign currency, through one or more transactions on a specific day in any single account.
Henceforth, instructions are hereby given to submit Cash Transaction Reports on a weekly basis (reports for each week to be submitted within 3 (three) working days of the following week) until further notice.
These instructions will come into effect from January 11, 2026. Additionally, CTRs for the period of January 1–10, 2026, must be submitted by January 13, 2026.
Other instructions contained in BFIU Circular No. 26, dated June 16, 2020, regarding the submission of Cash Transaction Reports (CTR) shall remain in force.
In this regard, it is further informed that in case of failure to submit CTRs on time, or submission of incorrect, incomplete, or false information or details, or violation of related instructions, action may be taken in accordance with the provisions of Section 23 of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012.
These instructions are issued under the powers conferred by Section 23(1)(d) of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012, and Section 15(1)(d) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009.
