The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) notifies the publication of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012 and the Anti Terrorism (Amendment) Act, 2012 in the Bangladesh Gazette and on the Bangladesh Bank website. This circular cancels BFIU Circular No. 1/2012 regarding the Money Laundering Prevention Ordinance, 2012 and Anti Terrorism (Amendment) Ordinance, 2012. It further directs that all prior circulars and letters issued by the Bangladesh Bank for preventing money laundering and terrorism financing are deemed to have been issued under the authority of Section 23(1)(g) of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012 and/or Section 15(1)(j) of the Anti Terrorism Act, 2009 read with the Anti Terrorism (Amendment) Act, 2012.

Regarding the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012 and Anti Terrorism (Amendment) Act, 2012.
With the objective of enacting laws and rules regarding the prevention of money laundering and related other offenses, including punishment, and ancillary matters, the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012 (Act No. 5 of 2012, dated 20 February, 2012/8 Falgun, 1418) repealing existing laws and ordinances on money laundering prevention, and the Anti Terrorism (Amendment) Act, 2012 (Act No. 6 of 2012, dated 20 February, 2012/8 Falgun, 1418) enacted to amend the Anti Terrorism Act, 2009, have been published in the Extraordinary Gazette of the People's Republic of Bangladesh with the assent of the Honorable President of Bangladesh for general information. These two Acts have been uploaded on the Bangladesh Bank website, which can be downloaded from the following link:

You are hereby directed to inform all concerned about these two Acts and to ensure compliance with the rules of these two Acts.
The Money Laundering Prevention Ordinance, 2012 and Anti Terrorism (Amendment) Ordinance, 2012 issued by the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit in BFIU Circular No. 1/2012 dated 30 January, 2012 shall be deemed cancelled with effect from this date.
All circulars and circular letters previously issued by the Bangladesh Bank for the prevention of money laundering and terrorism financing (where applicable) shall be deemed to have been issued under the authority granted by Section 23(1)(g) of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012 and/or Section 15(1)(j) of the Anti Terrorism Act, 2009 read with the Anti Terrorism (Amendment) Act, 2012.
