BRPD Circular Letter No. 02: Guidelines on Internal Credit Risk Rating System

The Bangladesh Bank extends the validity of the guidelines contained in BRPD Circular Letter No. 07/2022 regarding the Internal Credit Risk Rating System until December 31, 2024. This extension allows banks to continue providing necessary credit facilities and renewing existing loans to support ongoing commercial activities. The guidelines from BRPD Circular Letter No. 12 dated June 20, 2019, will resume and the current circular will be deemed cancelled effective January 1, 2025.

Dear Sir,

Reference is drawn to your attention to BRPD Circular Letter No. 07 issued on February 23, 2022, regarding the subject cited above.

  1. The instructions under paragraphs 1.8 and 1.10(d) of the "Guidelines on Internal Credit Risk Rating System" issued through BRPD Circular No. 16 dated October 30, 2018, have been relaxed until December 31, 2023, by the aforementioned circular letter.

  2. In order to keep the nationwide commercial program moving, considering the current financial status of the bank's borrowers, to provide necessary credit facilities from the banking sector and to continue renewing existing loans, the validity period of the instructions of BRPD Circular Letter No. 07/2022 has been extended until December 31, 2024. From January 1, 2025, BRPD Circular Letter No.-12, dated: June 20, 2019, will be reinstated and the instructions of this circular letter will be considered cancelled.

  3. These instructions are issued under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.

These instructions will come into force immediately.
