25 March, 2012 BRPD Circular Letter No. 03 Date: ------------------------ 11 Chaitra, 1418 Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer All Scheduled Banks Operating in Bangladesh

Dear Sir,

Regarding the preservation of CCTV camera footage installed at bank branches and ATM booths.

To enhance customer service standards and ensure transaction security, banks usually install CCTV cameras at their branches and ATM booths, the video footage of which is particularly helpful in preventing unwanted incidents or resolving disputes. However, it has been observed that banks preserve footage for their own convenience or for a very short period, and in many cases, no assistance is obtained from it when resolving complaints in necessary situations, leaving customers unable to receive adequate redress for their complaints. In this context, banks are advised to follow the following instructions regarding the preservation of CCTV footage:

  1. All CCTV video footage recorded at bank branches and ATM booths must be preserved for a minimum of one year from the time of recording.

  2. If a complaint is raised regarding any matter, the relevant video footage must be preserved for as many days as necessary until the complaint is satisfactorily resolved/accepted.

These instructions are to be implemented immediately.

Please acknowledge receipt.

Yours faithfully,

Signed (K.M. Abdul Wadud) General Manager Phone: 7117825
