BRPD Circular Letter No. 13: Refinance Scheme to Support Cinema Hall Owners

In the context of the formation of a special refinancing scheme by Bangladesh Bank to provide short-term, long-term loans/investments at low interest rates for the purpose of repairing and modernizing existing cinema halls and constructing new cinema halls, with the aim of restoring the lost heritage of the cinema industry.

Reference is drawn to your attention to BRPD Circular No.-04, dated 14 February, 2021, and BRPD Circular Letter No.-49, dated 09 December, 2021, issued on the subject matter mentioned above.

2. It was instructed in the aforementioned circular that applications for refinancing facilities after providing customer-oriented loan facilities under the discussed scheme must be submitted to Bangladesh Bank by 31 March, 2022. However, it has been learned that many interested customers were unable to apply for the aforementioned loan facilities at the bank on time because the subject matter of the issued circulars could not reach the customers in a timely manner.

3. Now, considering the matter discussed, the time limit for submitting applications to Bangladesh Bank for refinancing facilities for the distribution of customer-oriented loans under this scheme has been extended until 31 December, 2022.

4. All other instructions mentioned in the aforementioned circular and circular letter will remain unchanged.

These instructions are issued under the powers conferred by Section 45 of the Bank Companies Act, 1991.
