The Banking Regulation and Policy Department of Bangladesh Bank directs all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh to strictly enforce the wearing of masks and adherence to health safety protocols by all employees. Banks are instructed to monitor compliance with these measures at branches and regional offices to ensure that staff and customers follow the guidelines. This directive reinforces previous circulars issued between March 2020 and February 2021 in response to a recent increase in coronavirus infection and mortality rates.

Attention is drawn to your BRPD Circular No. 05; dated 22 March 2020, BRPD Circular Letter No. 41, dated 18 August 2020, BRPD Circular Letter No. 08, dated 31 January 2021, and BRPD Circular Letter No. 13, dated 23 February 2021.
The Ministry of Cabinet has recently expressed concern over a slight increase in the rate of Corona Virus infection and mortality compared to the past few months. In this context, you are hereby instructed to properly implement the aforementioned circulars and circular letters, which provide instructions to ensure the mandatory wearing of masks by all employees/staff of your bank and adherence to health protocols to curb the infection rate. Furthermore, you are instructed to ensure monitoring of whether health protocols, including wearing masks, are being complied with by bank staff and customers at branches/regional offices.
This instruction shall take effect immediately.
