The document clarifies that employees of scheduled banks in Bangladesh are not entitled to the special incentive allowance for working more than 10 days at bank premises during the government-declared general holidays for the COVID-19 pandemic. It specifies that any additional days worked beyond the initial 10 days are compensated under the bank's own internal policies or regulations, not the special incentive. Other directives from the original circular dated April 12, 2020, remain unchanged.
BRPD Circular Letter No. 24 Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer All Scheduled Banks operating in Bangladesh.
Dear Sir,
Reference is drawn to BRPD Circular Letter No. 17 issued on April 12, 2020, regarding the provision of special incentive allowances to employees/staff of banks working at bank premises during the general holidays declared by the government to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
It is mentioned in paragraph 3(2) of the said circular letter that employees/staff who work at bank premises for at least 10 working days during the general holidays shall be entitled to receive the said allowance on a pro-rata basis. However, employees/staff who work at bank premises for less than 10 working days shall not be entitled to receive the said allowance.
It is clarified here with the intention of clarifying the instructions mentioned in paragraph 3(2) of the said circular letter that even if an employee/staff works at bank premises for more than 10 working days during the general holidays, he/she will not be entitled to receive the special incentive allowance.
However, if an employee/staff is assigned roster duty or is required by the bank to work at bank premises for more than 10 working days, he/she will be entitled to receive additional transport allowance (Dhaka) for the working days after 10 (ten) days under the bank's own policy/regulation.
It is further clarified that other instructions mentioned in BRPD Circular Letter No. 17 issued on April 12, 2020, will remain unchanged.
Yours faithfully,
