BRPD Circular Letter No. 26: Appointment and Responsibilities of Chief Executive of a Bank-Company

Dear Sir,

Regarding the regulations concerning the appointment and responsibilities of the Chief Executive of a Bank.

Reference is invited to BRPD Circular Letter No. 18, dated 27 October 2013, on the subject cited above. The instructions mentioned in Appendix (2)(b) of the said Circular Letter, regarding the experience and suitability for the appointment of the Chief Executive, are hereby replaced as follows:

b) The appointee must hold at least a Master's degree from a recognized university. In the case of appointment/re-appointment as Chief Executive, preference shall be given to higher institutional education in Banking, Finance and Banking, Management, or Business Administration. No part of the educational career shall be acceptable if obtained in the Third Division/Grade. However, in the case of results published under the grading system, the following shall not be acceptable: GPA less than 3.00 in SSC or equivalent and HSC or equivalent examinations; CGPA less than 2.50 on a 4.00 point scale and less than 3.00 on a 5.00 point scale provided by an approved university.

Banks are advised to duly comply with all other instructions of BRPD Circular Letter No. 18, dated 27 October 2013, along with the above-mentioned revised instructions.

  1. This Circular Letter is issued under the powers conferred under Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991, and shall come into force immediately.
