BRPD Circular Letter No. 38: Regarding Rescheduling of Short-term Agricultural Credit

The Bangladesh Bank extends the validity of the directives in BRPD Circular Letter No. 05/2022 regarding the rescheduling of short-term agricultural credit until December 31, 2022. Consequently, scheduled banks are required to continue rescheduling such loans in accordance with the instructions specified in that circular, despite the issuance of BRPD Circular Letter No. 16/2022. This directive is issued under the powers granted by Section 49(1)(c) of the Bank Company Act, 1991.

Dear Sir,

Regarding the rescheduling of short-term agricultural credit.

Reference is invited to your attention to BRPD Circular Letter No. 05, dated: 19 April 2022 and BRPD Circular Letter No. 16, dated: 18 July 2022 concerning loan rescheduling and restructuring.

  1. Notwithstanding the issuance of BRPD Circular Letter No. 16/2022, the directives contained in BRPD Circular Letter No. 05/2022 shall remain in force until 31 December 2022, and short-term agricultural credit shall be rescheduled as usual in accordance with the instructions of the said circular.

  2. These directives are issued under the powers conferred by Section 49(1)(c) of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
