Scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh must bring all installed or planned CCTV, IP, and spy cameras at bank premises under continuous monitoring and ensure that recorded video footage is accessible to the nearest police station upon request. These additional security requirements supplement the existing directives issued in BRPD Circular No. 07 dated July 5, 2015, which mandate the installation of cameras and the retention of video footage for at least one year. The instructions are issued under the authority of Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991, and take immediate effect.

Dear Sir,
Subject: Precautionary measures to ensure safety of the bank branch
Reference is drawn to your attention to BRPD Circular No. 07 dated July 5, 2015, issued on the above subject.
In order to ensure greater security of bank premises, the aforementioned circular provided various necessary instructions, including the installation of a sufficient number of CCTV/IP cameras/spy cameras at the entrance, interior, exterior perimeter, and all types of IT rooms (and others) of bank branches, and the retention of recorded video footage for a minimum of one year.
Now, in the interest of the security of bank premises and property, banks shall follow the following instructions:
a) Banks shall take necessary measures to bring the installed/planned CCTV/IP cameras/spy cameras at the entrance, interior, and exterior perimeter of bank premises (branches, sub-branches, owned/rented buildings, etc.) under continuous monitoring;
b) Banks shall take necessary measures to ensure that the video footage recorded by the cameras can be accessed by the nearest police station upon request.
In addition to the above, the other instructions of the aforementioned circular shall remain unchanged.
These instructions are issued under the power granted in Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
These instructions shall be effective immediately.
