Wendy Spicher, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities, issued this letter to provide Pennsylvania state chartered banking and trust institutions with the 2026 legal bank holiday schedule. The document lists fixed and optional holidays derived from Section 113 of the Banking Code of 1965, including specific observance rules for weekends. It explicitly mandates that institutions must close on Independence Day, July 4, 2026, while noting that Flag Day, falling on a Sunday, has no statutory provision for alternate day observance.
