The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are finalizing amendments to the official interpretations for regulations implementing the Consumer Leasing Act. These changes adjust the dollar threshold for exempt consumer leases from $71,900 to $73,400, effective January 1, 2026, based on the annual percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers. The Agencies also make similar adjustments to the Truth in Lending Act's threshold for exempt consumer credit transactions to ensure consistency with statutory requirements.
