Carta Circular Externa DSP-0172-2026: Banco Finandina Suspends Check Clearing Service in Barranquilla Branch

The Department of Payment Systems issued Circular DSP-0172-2026 to inform participants that Banco Finandina will cease operations at its Barranquilla branch and withdraw from the check clearing system. The bank will stop sending checks for collection on May 15, 2026, and will cease receiving checks for collection after July 15, 2026, with the final clearing cycle closing on July 16, 2026. Participants are instructed to update their internal processes and notify their branches regarding the treatment of remaining Banco Finandina checks as remittance or negotiated instruments.

Subject: BANCO FINANDINA suspends the check clearing service at the Barranquilla branch.

Dear Sir/Madam:

In accordance with the information provided by Banco Finandina, starting from May 15, 2026, the aforementioned bank will close its operations at the Barranquilla branch and cease its participation in the clearing processes on July 15, 2026.

In line with the above, Banco Finandina will not send checks for collection starting from May 15, 2026, and will receive checks for collection until July 15, 2026, closing the second clearing cycle of this date on July 16, 2026.

Regarding checks from Banco Finandina at the Barranquilla branch, these are assumed as payment instruments for their clients under the remittance for collection or negotiated modality, as applicable.
