Capital Review: Components and Timelines

Financial Policy has initiated a comprehensive review of domestic bank capital requirements for 2016–2017 to reassess the adequacy, calibration, and quality of the current regulatory framework. The memorandum outlines a structured timeline of forthcoming analytical papers that will examine supervisory philosophy, the risks of internally modelled capital approaches, standardised method calibrations, and the macroeconomic impacts of potential capital adjustments. This review will run parallel to a Banking Supervision Handbook restructuring and will ultimately inform how future Basel framework updates are adopted domestically.
