Credit institutions are required to deposit these new coins separately from existing circular $20 coins (key 810) and may combine them in bags of 700 pieces alongside other commemorative coins (key 941). 2024, Year of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Meritorious of the Proletariat, Revolutionary and Defender of the Mayab CIRCULAR 10/2024 Mexico City, July 19, 2024. SUBJECT: Modifications to the Cash Operations Circular regarding the circulation of a $20 coin, commemorative of the 500 years since the founding of the first Villa de Colima. TO CREDIT INSTITUTIONS: The Bank of Mexico, based on what is provided by articles 28, paragraphs sixth and seventh, of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States; 2, 3, fraction I, 4, 24, paragraphs first and second, and 25, of the Bank of Mexico Law; 48 of the Credit Institutions Law; 1st, 4th, paragraphs first and fourth, 8th, paragraphs fourth and eighth, 10, paragraph first, 16 Bis, fraction II, and 17, fraction I, of the Internal Regulations of the Bank of Mexico; Second, fractions III and X, of the AGREEMENT establishing the characteristics of a commemorative coin for the 500 years since the founding of the first Villa de Colima published in the Official Journal of the Federation on March 22, 2024, has resolved to add numeral IV.II.3.9.21 and modify Annexes 15, 20 6/6 and 26 4/4, of Circular 9/2023 on Cash Operations (Circular).

The modifications to the Circular aim to put into circulation the twenty pesos commemorative coin of the 500 years since the founding of the first Villa de Colima, of current strike, which will coexist with the twenty pesos banknotes and metallic coins currently in circulation, which are identified with key 959. In view of the above, credit institutions must make their deposits at the Bank of Mexico, in accordance with what is established in Chapter VI, of Title II, of the aforementioned Circular, separating the new commemorative coins mentioned from those with key 810, whose shape is circular, diameter is 32.0 mm (thirty-two millimeters) and total weight of 15.945 grams, which differ from those of the cited commemorative coin.

Likewise, it is important to reiterate that, since August 8, 2022, the Bank of Mexico can accept dodecagonal coins, indistinctly, those with key 941 and whose content per bag is 500 pieces or those with key 959, whose content per bag will be 700 pieces. Therefore, credit institutions may make their deposits at the Bank of Mexico combining commemorations in bags of 700 pieces. This without combining the dodecagonal coins with those of circular shape.

In conformity with the Decree, as well as with the design determined by this Issuing Institute, the new coin will have the following characteristics: I.
