Circular 28/2008 — Modifies Circular 2031/97

The Bank of Mexico updates page A.II.31 of the Operating Rules for the Reciprocal Payments and Credits Agreement to reflect modifications made by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru to its catalog of authorized institutions. This change affects credit institutions in Mexico by updating the list of Peruvian entities, including the Central Reserve Bank of Peru and various commercial banks, authorized to operate under the agreement with the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI) and the Dominican Republic. The update is effective as of July 2, 2008.

TO THE CREDIT INSTITUTIONS OF THE COUNTRY:

SUBJECT: MODIFICATIONS TO THE OPERATING RULES OF THE RECIPROCAL PAYMENTS AND CREDITS AGREEMENT SIGNED BY THE BANK OF MEXICO AND THE CENTRAL BANKS OF THE OTHER MEMBER COUNTRIES OF THE LATIN AMERICAN INTEGRATION ASSOCIATION (ALADI) AND THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.

The Bank of Mexico, based on Articles 28 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, sixth and seventh paragraphs; Article 24 of the Bank of Mexico Law; Article 22 of the Law for Transparency and Ordering of Financial Services, in relation to Articles 8, 10, 17 fraction 1, and 20 Bis fraction XII, which grant the authority to the Directorate of Central Bank Regulations and the Directorate of Operational Processing, respectively, to participate in the issuance of regulations, all of the Internal Regulations of the Bank of Mexico published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on September 30, 1994, whose last modification was published in said Official Gazette on May 9, 2008, as well as in the Single Article, fractions I and IV of the Agreement on the Adscription of the Administrative Units of the Bank of Mexico; with the objective of promoting the sound development of the financial system and since the Central Reserve Bank of Peru has made modifications to the catalog of institutions authorized to operate under the reciprocal payments and credits agreement signed by the Bank of Mexico and the Central Banks of the other member countries of the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI) and the Dominican Republic, it has resolved to modify the aforementioned Rules made known through Circular 2031/97.

For the foregoing, with this Circular we inform you that page number A.II. 31 has been updated.
