Bank of Mexico modifies Annex 20 3/6 and Annex 25 4/4 of Circular 9/2023 to authorize the temporary circulation of commemorative 200-peso Type G banknotes featuring the legend “30 Aniversario de la Autonomía 1994-2024.” Credit institutions are permitted to deposit these commemorative notes without separating them from other 200-peso Type G banknotes. The modifications entered into force on May 20, 2024.

SUBJECT: Modifications to Circular 9/2023 on Cash Operations regarding the circulation of commemorative banknotes for the thirty years of autonomy of the Bank of Mexico. TO CREDIT INSTITUTIONS: The Bank of Mexico, based on the provisions of Articles 28, paragraphs sixth and seventh, of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States; 2, 3, fraction I, 4, 24, paragraphs first and second, and 25, of the Bank of Mexico Law; 48 of the Credit Institutions Law; 1st, 4th, paragraphs first and fourth, 8th, paragraphs fourth and eighth, 10, paragraph first, 16 Bis, fraction II, and 17, fraction I, of the Internal Regulations of the Bank of Mexico; Second, fractions III and X, of the Agreement on the Assignment of Administrative Units of the Bank of Mexico, has resolved to modify Annex 20 3/6, item 1.2.7, and Annex 25 4/4, of Circular 9/2023 on Cash Operations (Circular). The modifications to the Circular aim to put into circulation, for a transitional period to be determined by the Bank itself, legal tender commemorative banknotes in the denomination of 200 pesos Type G with the legend “30 Aniversario de la Autonomía 1994-2024,” which will coexist with the 200 pesos Type G banknotes put into circulation starting September 2, 2019. The aforementioned banknotes will have the same characteristics as the 200 Type G banknotes, with the following addition: The legend “30 Aniversario de la Autonomía 1994-2024,” below the name of the Bank of Mexico, on the obverse of the notes.

Finally, the modifications referred to in this communication will enter into force on this same date.
