The Central Bank of Egypt cancels the maximum limits for foreign currency cash deposits and withdrawals for legal persons engaged in importing basic goods and products, effective March 9, 2016. The existing maximum limits remain in force for legal persons importing other goods that are not classified as basic. The circular instructs recipients to take necessary measures to implement this decision.

Greetings,
With reference to the instructions issued in February 2015 regarding the maximum limits for cash withdrawals and deposits in foreign currencies for legal persons, and subsequently on 26 January 2016 and 15 February 2016 on the same subject.
I would like to inform you that it has been decided to cancel the aforementioned maximum limits for legal persons working in the field of importing basic goods and products, while maintaining the limits currently in force for legal persons in the field of importing other goods, excluding basic goods and products.
This decision is effective as of its date. Please kindly ensure to notify relevant parties to take the necessary action to implement the aforementioned decision.
