Circular Including the Information Technology Sector in Medium-Term Lending Instructions for Licensed Banks

The Central Bank of Jordan has amended its medium-term lending instructions for licensed banks to include the Information Technology sector. This change, effective October 25, 2015, expands the scope of eligible sectors under Circular No. (2011/54) to cover activities such as software development, mobile applications, and digital data processing. Licensed banks are now authorized to grant medium-term loans to entities within this sector.

Circular to All Licensed Banks

Greetings,

Continuing the measures taken by the Central Bank to provide medium-term financing to licensed banks with the aim of relending to economic sectors, it has been decided to include the Information Technology sector (software development and licensing, mobile applications, internet portals and content, outsourcing services, call center services, digital content, electronic game programming, and digital data processing) within the scope of the instructions for granting medium-term loans to licensed banks No. (2011/54) dated March 14, 2011, and its subsequent circulars, effective from this date.
