Circular Letter No. CC/2022/00000021: Euro Banknote Deposit and Withdrawal Operations in Angra do Heroísmo and Horta

The document informs credit institutions, payment institutions, and electronic money institutions that the protocol allowing them to conduct euro banknote deposits and withdrawals at Caixa Geral de Depósitos branches in Angra do Heroísmo and Horta will cease to be effective at the end of the day on February 28, 2023. This notice is issued without prejudice to any future amendments to Instruction No. 18/2021, which originally defined the locations, hours, and conditions for such operations at the Bank of Portugal and its partner branches.

Circular Letter No. CC/2022/00000021 Sent to: Credit Institutions, Payment Institutions, and Electronic Money Institutions. Mod. 40000375/T – 01/14 Subject: Euro banknote deposit and withdrawal operations in the localities of Angra do Heroísmo and Horta in the Autonomous Region of the Azores

Instruction No. 18/2021, of December 20, defines the locations, hours, rules, conditions, and application support through which euro banknotes and coins can be deposited and withdrawn at the Bank of Portugal, including operations carried out under an existing Protocol between the Bank of Portugal and Caixa Geral de Depósitos, regarding the making of euro banknote deposits and withdrawals by Credit Institutions at the counters of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, located in the cities of Angra do Heroísmo and Horta, in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

This Circular Letter, without prejudice to any subsequent amendment of the aforementioned Instruction No. 18/2021, aims to inform the banking system, with the necessary advance notice, that from the end of the day on February 28, 2023, the aforementioned Protocol will cease to be in effect.
