The Malta Financial Services Authority updates Banking Rule BR/09 to amend quantitative requirements for non-performing exposures (NPEs) and implement relevant European Banking Authority guidelines. The amendments specify minimum coverage expectation paths for Stock NPEs and Flow NPEs originating before or after 26 April 2019, as these loans are not covered by Regulation (EU) 2019/630. The update also incorporates EBA guidelines regarding the definition of default, credit risk management, and the management and disclosure of non-performing and forborne exposures. These requirements come into immediate effect unless otherwise stated within the Rule.
