The National Monetary Council (CMN), via the Central Bank of Brazil, issued Resolution No. 5,328 on July 10, 2026, to amend CMN Resolution No. 5,325, of July 3, 2026. This amendment revises the repayment terms for financing lines applicable to compliant beneficiaries of the Student Financing Fund (Fies). Specifically, it sets repayment for individuals at up to sixty months (including up to six months principal grace) and for legal entities at up to ninety-six months (including up to twelve months principal grace), also allowing for interest capitalization during the grace period.
The Central Bank of Brazil, in the form of art. 9 of Law No. 4,595, of December 31, 1964, makes public that the National Monetary Council, in an extraordinary session held on July 10, 2026, in view of the provisions of art. 4, caput, item VI, of Law No. 4,595, of December 31, 1964, and based on Provisional Measure No. 1,373, of June 29, 2026, R E S O L V E D : Art. 1 CMN Resolution No. 5,325, of July 3, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Union on July 6, 2026, shall come into force with the following amendments: “Art. 2 ................................................. ............................................................ VI - repayment term applicable to contracts with individuals: up to sixty months, including up to six months of principal grace period; VII - repayment term applicable to contracts with legal entities: up to ninety-six months, including up to twelve months of principal grace period; ............................................................ § 1 In the event of non-payment of interest during the grace period, its capitalization is permitted. ......................................................” (NR) Art. 2 This Resolution comes into force on the date of its publication.
