Mexico City, June 13, 2025 CNBV Governing Board Orders Intervention of Popular Financial Society CAME • The measure, as established by law, protects savers' deposits and preserves the stability of the popular savings system • The Mexican financial system remains solid
The Governing Board of the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV), in a session held on June 9, agreed to the intervention with managerial status of the entity named Consejo de Asistencia al Microemprendedor, S.A. de C.V., Popular Financial Society (CAME), with the purpose of suspending its operations and thus safeguarding the interests of savers.
This follows an assessment of a series of elements indicating accounting irregularities that put savers' interests at risk. This Popular Financial Society presents significant capital loss, placing it in Category 4 of the Capitalization Level (NICAP), with evident financial insolvency. Furthermore, it was reported that on May 21, notice was given of the proceeding for revocation for non-compliance with capitalization requirements for credit and market risks, a procedure that is currently in progress.
The intervention agreed upon by the Governing Board, provided for in articles 75 and 78 of the Popular Savings and Credit Law, occurs after the CNBV conducted supervisory visits to the entity since March, and after issuing various preventive measures.
Thus, the CNBV Governing Board has proceeded, in accordance with the law, with the purpose of generating security for CAME depositors.
It is important to highlight that savers' equity is covered by the Protection Fund up to an amount equivalent to 25,000 UDIS per natural or legal person, regardless of the number and type of operations in their favor and against the same popular financial society. This intervention aims to protect CAME savers.
The Mexican financial system is solid and is in a robust position to protect savers and preserve the stability of the popular savings system.
