DEPARTMENT OF CURRENCY MANAGEMENT (Issue Administration Branch) Bangladesh Bank Head Office Dhaka. Ref No.: DCM/IA/2016 DCM Circular No. - 2/2016 31 January, 2016 18 Magh, 1422

Managing Director/Chief Executive All Scheduled Banks operating in Bangladesh.

Dear Sir,

Regarding stapling of packets of 500 and 1000 taka denomination notes.

It has recently been observed that scheduled banks are using multiple stapling pins in packets of 500 and 1000 taka denomination notes in many cases and stapling the note packets arbitrarily at various locations. As a result, on one hand, customers are unable to verify the notes properly, and on the other hand, the quality and durability of the notes are decreasing.

To maintain the durability and integrity of the notes and for the convenience of customers, it is hereby directed to use only 1 stapling pin in the middle of the left side of the packet of 500 and 1000 taka denomination notes, between 1-1.5 centimeters.

This directive will come into force immediately.

Yours faithfully,

(Parimal Chandra Chakraborty) Deputy General Manager Phone: 9530232 CC: dcm.ia@bb.org.bd
