Bulletin 2007-3: Flood Insurance Training Requirements for Insurance Producers Selling Through the NFIP

The Oregon Insurance Division mandates that all resident insurance producers selling flood insurance under the National Flood Insurance Program complete a one-time, three-hour continuing education course approved by the Division. Starting October 1, 2007, new and renewal applicants must demonstrate completion of this training, while existing producers licensed before that date may continue selling until their next renewal date without proof. Failure to comply with these federal training requirements established by the Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2004 may jeopardize a producer's authority to write flood insurance.
