Decision on the Withdrawal from Circulation of 50 Fening Convertible Mark Banknotes

The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina withdraws 50 fening convertible mark banknotes from circulation, ceasing their status as legal tender effective January 1, 2003. Commercial banks are required to process the withdrawal of these notes between January 1, 2003, and March 31, 2003, accepting them from the Central Bank via designated treasuries. Holders may continue to use these banknotes for payments in circulation until December 31, 2002.

Decision on the Withdrawal from Circulation of 50 Fening Convertible Mark Banknotes, UV No. 60/02 dated October 16, 2002

Based on Article 39 of the Law on the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina", No. 1/97 and 29/02), the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at its 16th meeting held on October 16, 2002, adopts

D E C I S I O N on the withdrawal from circulation of convertible mark banknotes, of the denomination of 50 fening

  1. The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (hereinafter: the Central Bank) withdraws from circulation convertible mark banknotes of the denomination of 50 fening, which are in circulation as legal tender according to the Decision on the Issuance and Release into Circulation of Convertible Mark Banknotes ("Official Gazette of BiH", No. 10/98).

  2. The withdrawal of banknotes from point 1 of this Decision shall be carried out by commercial banks starting from January 1, 2003, through March 31, 2003. The Central Bank will accept the withdrawn banknotes from point 1 of this Decision from commercial banks through designated treasuries.

  3. Holders of the banknotes from point 1 of this Decision may freely make payments with these banknotes in circulation through December 31, 2002.

  4. Starting from January 1, 2003, the banknotes from point 1 of this Decision cease to be legal tender and cannot be accepted in circulation for the settlement of any obligations.

  5. This Decision enters into force on the day of its publication in the "Official Gazette of BiH", and shall also be published in the "Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH" and the "Official Gazette of the Republika Srpska".
