Climate Change Act 2021

The Parliament of the Republic of Fiji enacted the Climate Change Act 2021 to establish a comprehensive legal framework for regulating the national response to climate change. The legislation mandates the implementation of the Paris Agreement, introduces a system for measuring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions, and creates governance structures such as the National Climate Change Coordination Committee. It further imposes specific obligations on state entities, the private sector, and financial institutions regarding climate risk disclosure, adaptation planning, and sustainable financing mechanisms.
