DFIM Circular Letter No. 06: Limitation on Ex-Bangladesh travel of NBFI's officials and employees

The circular imposes a ban on international travel for training, study tours, exposure visits, meetings, or seminars for all officials and employees of financial institutions operating in Bangladesh, effective until further notice. This restriction applies in the context of the post-COVID-19 economic recovery and the current global crisis. Exceptions are granted for personal travel due to special necessity, pilgrimage for Hajj in 1443 Hijri/2022, medical treatment recommended by a specialist, travel by foreign nationals to their home country, and participation in training or meetings fully funded and organized by foreign investor institutions.

Dear Sir,

Regarding the limitation on the foreign travel of officials and employees of financial institutions.

In the context of the post-COVID-19 economic recovery and the current global crisis, the international travel of officials and employees of all financial institutions operating in Bangladesh for training/study tours/exposure visits/meetings/seminars shall remain suspended until further orders.

  1. However, the following areas shall be excluded from the scope of this directive: 2.1. Personal foreign travel by officials and employees of financial institutions due to special necessity; 2.2. Travel abroad for performing the sacred Hajj in 1443 Hijri/2022 and for medical treatment abroad based on the recommendation of a specialist doctor; 2.3. Travel by foreign nationals working in financial institutions to their home country; and 2.4. Participation in training/study tours/workshops/exposure visits/meetings/seminars that are fully funded and organized by foreign investor institutions.

  2. This directive is issued under the powers conferred by Section 18(6) of the Financial Institutions Act, 1993.
