DFIM Circular No. 10: Flow of financing for the Effected productive activities and business

Financial institutions are authorized to consider down payments, tenor determination, and loan restructuring on a case-by-case basis for genuine borrowers in affected sectors, including SMEs and agriculture, to maintain business operations and ensure loan recovery. This facility remains valid until June 30, 2014, and requires the approval of the financial institution's competent authority and prior permission from Bangladesh Bank.

To the Chief Executive/Managing Directors, All Financial Institutions operating in Bangladesh.

Dear Sir,

With reference to the continuation of financing for affected productive activities and businesses.

Due to the prevailing unstable situation in the country, the normal movement of inputs and products in the agriculture and industrial sectors has been disrupted, adversely affecting business activities and economic operations. Consequently, normal business operations are being hindered.

In this context, it has been decided that financial institutions may consider down payments and tenor determination on the basis of the institution-client relationship, and determine the tenor for loan restructuring reasonably, to maintain business operations and ensure loan recovery for genuine borrowers in all sectors, including SMEs and agriculture, who are genuinely affected.

However, in this regard, prior permission from Bangladesh Bank must be obtained after the approval of the competent authority of the financial institution.

This facility will remain valid until June 30, 2014.
