DID Circular Letter No. - 01/2021

To: The Chief Executive Officers All Scheduled Banks Operating in Bangladesh.

Subject: Regarding Submission of Significant Information.

Dear Sir,

Reference is drawn to your attention to our Department's Circular No. -04/2013 dated July 15, 2013, and Circular Letter No. -01/2020 dated December 23, 2020, on the above subject.

According to the aforementioned circular and circular letter, all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh are directed to submit the necessary information regarding their deposit insurance premium determination to this Department in the prescribed format on a half-yearly basis for the purpose of calculating deposit insurance premiums. However, it has recently been observed that even when statements are submitted on a half-yearly basis, disruptions are being caused in the deposit insurance premium calculation process because banks fail to inform this Department in time about changes in regulatory compliance through important approvals/instructions issued by various departments of Bangladesh Bank, or even when fundamental changes occur in banking.

It is advised that any kind of fundamental change (temporary/permanent) in banks that may affect the calculation of deposit insurance premiums be informed to this Department in due time.

Please acknowledge receipt.

Yours faithfully,

(Dipti Rani Hazra) Deputy General Manager Phone: 9530243 E-mail: fardus.roy@did.bb.gov.bd
