DMD Circular Letter No. 04: Resuming All Activities of NRB Bonds

Bangladesh Bank instructs all scheduled banks, excluding Islamic Shariah-based banks, to resume all transaction activities for NRB Bonds, specifically Wage Earner Development Bond, US Dollar Investment Bond, and US Dollar Premium Bond. This includes sale/reinvestment, encashment, and coupon payments, to facilitate expatriate investment against remittances. Banks must comply with relevant bond rules and complete transactions within the banking hours specified in DOS Circular Letter-13 dated 16/04/2020. This instruction is effective immediately.

According to the said instruction, services related to encashment and coupon payment of NRB Bonds (Wage Earner Development Bond, US Dollar Investment Bond, and US Dollar Premium Bond) are currently active.In this regard, it has been decided that all transaction activities of NRB Bonds (including sale/reinvestment, encashment, coupon payment, and other activities) will remain active to facilitate investment by expatriates against remittances sent from abroad and to provide overall cooperation. To this end, it is also advised to duly comply with the clauses of the relevant bond rules.In this situation, you are instructed to take necessary measures to complete all transaction activities of NRB Bonds (Wage Earner Development Bond, US Dollar Investment Bond, and US Dollar Premium Bond) within the banking hours mentioned in paragraph 1 of DOS Circular Letter-13 dated 16/04/2020 of the Department of Off-site Supervision.This instruction will be effective immediately.Yours faithfully,(Md.
