The Bangladesh Bank introduces 7-day and 14-day maturity Bangladesh Bank Bills alongside the existing 30-day bills, with auctions for all three tenors to be held daily. The existing regulations and procedures for Bangladesh Bank Bill issuance, as outlined in the FRTEMDS 154/2006-1661 letter dated 21/09/06, apply to these new tenors. These directives become effective from 06/04/2016 for all scheduled banks and financial institutions operating in Bangladesh.

In order to further strengthen monetary policy implementation and liquidity management, the Bangladesh Bank has decided to introduce 7-day and 14-day maturity Bangladesh Bank Bills alongside the currently circulating 30-day maturity Bangladesh Bank Bills. Accordingly, auctions for 7, 14, and 30-day maturity Bangladesh Bank Bills will be held every working day. The guidelines regarding the rules and procedures for the issuance of Bangladesh Bank Bills, issued through the letter FRTEMDS 154/2006-1661 dated 21/09/06 concerning the conduct of Bangladesh Bank Bill auctions, will also be applicable to the 7 and 14-day maturity Bangladesh Bank Bills.
