DOS Circular Letter No. 02: Instruction to take necessary measures to facilitate casting of vote by the voter employees of the related areas on 16th January 2022

The Department of Off-Site Supervision instructs all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh to close branches or sub-branches located in specific electoral constituencies on January 16, 2022, if those premises are designated as polling stations for the by-elections in Tangail-7, Narayanganj City Corporation, and five upazilas. Banks must also ensure that voter employees within these affected electoral areas are provided with the opportunity to exercise their voting rights during this period.

Regarding the need to take necessary measures to facilitate the casting of votes by voters employed in relevant areas, including the closure of bank branches/sub-branches situated in electoral areas used as polling stations for the elections to the vacant seat of Tangail-7 (136th), Narayanganj City Corporation, and five Upazila Parishads in various districts on 16 January 2022.

In accordance with Gazette Notification No. 05.00.0000.173.08.002.18-07 dated 11 January 2022 of the Ministry of Public Administration, advice is given to close any bank branch/sub-branch located in premises designated as polling stations or for election activities in the electoral areas under the by-elections for the vacant seat of Tangail-7 (136th) of the Jatiya Sangsad, Narayanganj City Corporation, and five Upazila Parishads (Banskhali in Chittagong District, Noakhali in Noakhali District, Jhikargacha in Jessore District, Natore in Natore District, and Bagatipara in Naogaon District) on 16 January 2022, which is the day of poll collection. Furthermore, banks are advised to take necessary measures to provide voter employees working in the branches/sub-branches of your bank within the respective electoral areas with the opportunity to exercise their right to vote.
