DOS Circular Letter No. 02: Scheduled Bank branches will remain closed on 05 January, 2014 (Sunday) due to 10th National Parliamentary Election
All scheduled bank branches in 59 districts of Bangladesh will remain closed on Sunday, 05 January 2014, suspending all operations including cash and clearing services, to allow bank staff to exercise their voting rights during the 10th National Parliamentary Election. Conversely, branches in five specific districts (Jhalokathi, Rajbari, Madaripur, Shariatpur, and Chandpur) must remain open to provide cash and financial institution services, although their clearing operations will be suspended. Bank management in the five specified districts is directed to take necessary measures to ensure these branches stay open and maintain cash availability.

Dear Sir,
Regarding the closure of Scheduled Banks on the occasion of the 10th National Parliamentary Election.
With reference to the Memorandum No. 05.00.0000.173.08.001.12-281 dated 30 December 2013 from the Ministry of Public Administration, it has been announced that a general holiday will be declared on 05 January 2014 (Sunday), the day of voting for the 10th National Parliamentary Election, in all districts except five (Jhalokathi, Rajbari, Madaripur, Shariatpur, and Chandpur).
In this context, to facilitate the exercise of voting rights and voting by bank employees/staff, all operations of Scheduled Banks in the remaining 59 districts, including cash and clearing, will remain closed on Sunday, 05 January 2014.
- Bank management is hereby directed to take necessary measures to keep the branches of the aforementioned five districts open and to maintain cash and financial institution services. It is noted that clearing operations in the five mentioned districts will remain closed on Sunday, 05 January 2014.
