DOS Circular Letter No. 05: Instruction to take necessary measures to facilitate casting of vote by the voter employees of the related areas on 31st January 2022 for election of Pouroshova and Union Parishads

The Department of Off-site Supervision instructs all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh to close their branches or sub-branches located in the Baufal Pouroshova and 219 Union Parishads of Patuakhali District on January 31, 2022, if these premises are designated as polling stations for the local elections. Banks must also take necessary measures to facilitate voting rights for their employees who are voters in these specific electoral areas. This directive is issued in accordance with Government of Bangladesh Gazette Notification No. 05.00.0000.173.08.002.18-21 dated January 23, 2022.

Regarding the instruction to close the branches/sub-branches of the bank located in the premises to be used as polling stations in the relevant electoral areas for the election of Baufal Pouroshova and 219 Union Parishads of Patuakhali District on 31 January 2022, and to take necessary measures to facilitate the exercise of voting rights by voters.

Reference is made to Gazette Notification No. 05.00.0000.173.08.002.18-21 dated 23 January 2022 of the Ministry of Public Administration (Notification attached), which recommends that if any branch/sub-branch of the bank is located in any premises designated as polling stations or for election activities in the electoral areas of Patuakhali District for the election of Baufal Pouroshova and 219 Union Parishads on 31 January 2022, such branches/sub-branches should be closed. Furthermore, necessary measures should be taken to facilitate the exercise of voting rights by voters employed in your bank's branches/sub-branches within the relevant electoral areas.
