The Department of Off-Site Supervision directs all scheduled banks in Bangladesh to keep all their Authorized Dealer (AD) branches open on Saturdays for all types of transactions. This instruction serves as an additional measure to maintain the momentum of trade and ensure uninterrupted banking services for customers, supplementing previous directives that allowed selective opening of AD branches on Saturdays.
Department of Off-Site Supervision Circular Letter No. 06 Date: 13 Chaitra, 1419 27 March, 2013
To: The Chief Executive Officers All Bank Companies Operating in Bangladesh.
Dear Sir,
Subject: Opening of Authorized Dealer (AD) branches of banks on Saturday, the weekly holiday.
Reference is invited to DOS Circular Letter No. 18/2006 on the subject above.
Through the aforementioned circular, instructions were issued to keep all branches of commercial banks engaged in foreign trade and transactions, including aviation, sea/water, and land ports, open on Friday and Saturday to facilitate foreign trade and transactions in the country. Furthermore, instructions were issued that banks may, at their own discretion, keep open those Authorized Dealer (AD) branches located elsewhere in the country that are involved in import-export trade transactions and are deemed necessary to be kept open. These instructions remain in force.
Now, as an additional measure to maintain the momentum of trade and ensure uninterrupted banking activities for customers, instructions are hereby issued to keep all Authorized Dealer branches of scheduled banks in the country open on Saturday, the weekly holiday, for all types of transactions, in accordance with the normal banking schedule, until further instructions are issued.
You are requested to acknowledge receipt.
Yours faithfully,
(Sd/-) (Md. Ibrahim Bhuiyan) Deputy General Manager Phone: 9530207
